Astraea Welcomes Director of Development

Astraea is pleased to announce that Kimberly Datz has joined Astraea as Director of Development.  Kimberly brings to Astraea 11 years of experience as a development professional and volunteer.  She is particularly recognized for her deep knowledge of major giving programs and volunteer and board engagement.

“On behalf of the Astraea staff and board, I am so pleased to welcome Kimberly as Director of Development,” said Executive Director, Katherine Acey.  “Her strategic thinking and fundraising know-how are essential in building Astraea’s capacity for the long-term.”

Kimberly is a strategic, results-oriented fundraiser with a proven track record in building development programs and long-term relationships with donors. Joining Astraea has allowed her to apply her expertise in the service of her values.  Kimberly said, “Linking activists and donors to secure the human rights of LGBTI people globally is what makes Astraea so powerful and meaningful to me.”

Kimberly began her career in development as a political fundraising consultant, raising funds for presidential, senatorial and congressional campaigns. Since then she has worked with both local and national organizations including the American Civil Liberties Union, Planned Parenthood, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and City Harvest. Kimberly is an active member of the Special Programs Committee and co-chairs the Sponsorship Committee of Women in Development. She is also a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement.
